Three arrested after car spotted speeding

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Six people who were inside a condemned home face a variety of charges after a police investigation Thursday.

Juneau Police said Michael Lepley, 53, was charged with driving while license revoked, reckless driving and violating conditions of release.  He was ultimately found to be the driver of the vehicle.

Jonathan Smith, 48, was charged with a reckless or intentional violation and violation conditions of release.

Benjamin Bingham, 37 was charged with probation violation and reckless or intentional violation.

Three people were cited and released on a charge of reckless or intentional violation, Amber Lynn Farnham, 30, Ashley Stansell 32, and Daniel Winston, 38.

Police said a Ford Explorer was spotted driving at a high rate of speed through a construction zone near Floyd Dryden Middle School  The officer attempted to catch up to the vehicle and saw it drive at a high rate of speed through a residential area before it pulled into a driveway in the 8400 block of Nugget Drive.

The driver ran inside the residence that had been condemned by the CBJ due to safety code violations.

Police knocked on the door for some time with no answer.  They contacted the code compliance officer who called the homeowner by phone and convinced him to come outside the speak to the police.

Smith attempted to run out the back door but was apprehended by the police.

The charge of reckless or intentional violation is a class A misdemeanor.  It is due to being at the condemned residence while not being on the approved occupant list.
