
Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Parks and Recreation Juneau Pools will offer a lifeguarding class on January 3 – 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily at Dimond Park Aquatic Center.
Participants who successfully complete the class will earn an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, valid for two years.
Registration opens December 9 and closes on December 22. Individuals can register here, or click "Register Online" from the Parks and Rec home page under the Juneau Pools tab.
Class fees are $250 for general participants but free for those who intend to use their lifeguard certification to work for Juneau Pools. The class is open to a maximum of 10 people.
Prerequisites: Complete the pre-course prior to the first day of class which includes a 300-yard swim, brick retrieval from 10 feet, and treading water for 2 minutes. Must be 15 years old by the last day of class.
