Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) - The Anchorage Airport Police and Fire department in late November intercepted two drug traffickers.
On the 26th they received word that an individual was traveling to Alaska from California with drugs.
Upon their arrival, Airport Police contacted the individual and seized 15 vacuumed packed 1.1lbs bags of marijuana, the total weight was just over 18 lbs.
After failing to show proper documentation and having well over the legal weight limit, they were arrested and the marijuana was seized.
In another case in the same week, they contacted an inbound passenger traveling to a small community in Alaska under suspicion of carrying an illegal load.
An investigation led to the seizure of about $10,000 in cash and 115 grams of a "crystalline substance" consistent with Meth.
In a social media post, Anchorage Airport Police and Fire department say the airport will not be a hub for illegal drug trafficking.
