Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The official unveiling of Capital City Fire Rescue's newly refurbished ambulance featuring Northwest Coast formline designed by Tlingit artists in Juneau and Sitka will happen next week.
The unveiling is set for Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 9 a.m. The event will be available to watch here.
According to CCFR, the goal with the newly refurbished ambulance is to be more inclusive and representative of the Juneau community.
The live virtual event is being organized by CCFR and the Unity Group - Douglas Indian Association, Goldbelt, Inc., Huna Totem Corporation, Kootznoowoo, Sealaska Heritage Institute, Sealaska, SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium, Tlingit & Haida, and Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority.
The Healing Hand and Spirit Face on the ambulance was designed by Juneau Tlingit Artist Crystal Kaakeeyáa Worl and Sitka Tlingit Artist Mary Goddard. Commercial Signs and Printing produced the vinyl decals of the art.
