Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) - This week is Alaska Police Memorial Week, a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by the men and women who dedicate themselves to public safety.
In Alaska, we have lost 68 officers in the line of duty. On Friday, May 13, the Alaska State Troopers will hold a Police Memorial Day Ceremony to honor these fallen officers.
The ceremony will be at the Fallen Officer Memorial at the Alaska State Crime Lab on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., in Anchorage at 3 p.m.
Two other Peace Officer Memorial Day events will be held on May 13. In Juneau there will be a wreath laying ceremony at Evergreen Cemetery from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. In North Pole there will be a ceremony at the Trooper Scott Johnson and Trooper Gabe Rich Memorial Park at 11 a.m.
The Anchorage event will be live streamed on the Alaska State Trooper official Facebook page.
