40 COVID cases reported in Juneau over weekend

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - 40 new individuals in Juneau were identified with COVID-19 over the weekend and Monday with 37 residents and 3 nonresidents.

There are 4 people with COVID-19 who are hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

The Juneau School District is currently investigating cases that came in over the weekend to determine if any were in school during their infectious period.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 1473 new people identified with COVID-19. 1471 are residents and 42 are nonresidents.

The state also reports the death of a male Anchorage resident in his 80s. This brings the total number of resident deaths to 445.

The state reports that there are 210 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who are hospitalized and 10 additional patients who are considered persons under investigation. Thirty-three of these patients are on ventilators.

The percentage of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in the state is 18.3%.

According to the Department of Health, 61.8% of Alaskans age 12 and older have received at least their first vaccine dose, in Juneau the percentage of fully vaccinated individuals is 79.4%.
